Newborn photos in Edmonton | Asked and Answered

Updated: Feb 25, 2019

Just a quick note to all of Edmonton Moms-to-be, I am currently booking up to December 2018 now for newborn baby photography in Edmonton. This includes both studio sessions as well as lifestyle sessions.

This is the first in our new 'Asked and Answered: Newborn Photography' series. Having a new baby comes with so many changes and questions about everything from diapers and feeding to sleeping. Researching newborn photography shouldn't be an overwhelming process, so we are here to makes things a little simpler for all you new Moms and Dads.

Our first question today, is 'When should I book my newborn session?'. If you have been researching photographers, and you have your heart set on one (and Edmonton has lots of amazing newborn photographers!) then I recommend booking during your second trimester to guarantee your photographer has room. For example, I typically book only a certain amount of due dates per month, since babies always have a little bit of their own schedule as to when they arrive. That being said, I typically receive at least a couple of phone calls each week from brand new Edmonton Moms, whose baby has already been born, and they are wondering if it is too late to book a newborn session? I always try my best to fit these Moms and babies into my schedule, as I know how important newborn photography is, especially once as a mom you see how fast your baby changes in those first few weeks. Sometimes when booking a session after the baby is already born that means that they are older than the typical 5-14 days old that many photographers prefer to only shoot in, however, don't worry or panic! I've photographed and snuggled nearly 200 of Edmonton's newest residents over the years, many being over two weeks old. You can have the confidence that when you visit the studio, and your baby is a little older, we will still capture all of those precious new details and create beautiful portraits that will last a lifetime.

Do you have other questions about newborn photography? Let me know what you would like to know more about in the comment section below, or you can contact me here if you would like to book your newborn session for 2018. Now here are a few of my favourites from little Alexandra's recent newborn photos! She was wide awake, and so beautiful, just like her Mom!
