Clients often ask, "Can I bring things to my photo session at the studio?" The answer is yes. Bringing items that reflect your interests and identity can be a meaningful way to celebrate your journey. Personal items like a favourite book, a pair of baby shoes, a cherished scarf, or a piece of jewelry with special meaning are great examples to consider. As a mom-to-be, you're entering a new chapter, but honouring who you are has value. Think about these kinds of special items when preparing for your maternity photos in the Edmonton studio, so we can capture all aspects of you.

What special things should I bring to my maternity photos in Edmonton?

This might seem like a daunting question as you prepare for your photo shoot. To make it easier, try asking yourself: What makes you smile or feel proud about this pregnancy? Think about the moments and memories that you want to look back on and remember. For example, was there something that you craved throughout your pregnancy that you want to remember? For me, many years ago, it would have been mangoes! During this session, the mom-to-be craved milkshakes! So we had so much fun incorporating that into her session.

Perhaps there is another aspect of yourself you want to include in studio photos. Consider your hobbies or things you're passionate about. For example, are you a book lover, obsessed with bubble gum, or have you spent your pregnancy crocheting a blanket? This mom LOVES cowboy books and her cowboy hat, so we included those in her photos. Bringing items related to your hobbies is a powerful way to infuse personality into maternity photos. It elevates your photos from feeling generic, making them a true reflection of you. It also makes your photo session more memorable and deepens the meaning of your maternity photos. And trust me when I say all ideas are welcome!

What happens if the things I want to incorporate are too big for the studio?

For example, I can easily accommodate your pet dog in the studio, but your horse is a different story. This is where we get to be creative with location, and maybe the studio isn't the right location for your maternity photos. There are so many ways to personalize your photos and create a deeper personal meaning with them and the story we tell. It might be on your property with your horses, in the mountains where you will spend time as a family, or in your family home where your baby will grow up. If you're looking for inspiration, looking at the maternity photo gallery can provide that for you.

Ultimately, we will work together through the consultation and session prep process to figure out the perfect location together. I’m there to guide you step by step.

Now here is the question for you...how are we going to tell this part of your story? Are you looking for maternity photos in Edmonton and a photographer who will make you feel comfortable? I'm an Edmonton photographer who specializes in storytelling at all stages of motherhood, with over 16 years of experience you can trust. I'd love to connect with you, so reach out here and let's talk.

Christy xoxo
